THIS REVOLUTIONARY NEW PRODUCT is produced from absolutely clean pine wood fibres which have been highly densified and the moisture extracted. On completion of the complex manufacturing program the end product contains only 2% moisture, is sterile and very absorbent. When in use AQUAMAX absorbs urine and at the same time eliminates ammonia odour and expands to form a fluffy wood fibre some four times its own volume. It is worth noting that a 30lbs (13.6kgs) bag of AQUAMAX will absorb approximately 120lbs (54kgs) of urine.

THE PRODUCT

Raw white softwood shavings and sawdust undergo extreme processing which extracts most of the resins, oils, tars, acids and water from the wood fibre. Exiting the milling process the product is completely sterile in granulated form and has become an extreme absorbent. We have eliminated the dangerous aromatic hydrocarbons which cause respiratory irritation (coughing) for horses.

There are NO ADDITIVES of any kind in this product, it is 100% Biodegradable Sterile Wood Fibre.

COMPARED TO WOOD SHAVINGS

Aquamax horse bedding will expand about four times its volume and will transform from the granulated state into fluffy bedding almost instantly as it absorbs moisture. Bring the bedding moisture content up to a point where the bedding feels damp to the touch of your hands but will not transfer into the knee of your jeans when you kneel on it. Initially this can be done with water using a fine spray for about five minutes, then leave the bed for 15 minutes to expand.

So here's the difference: REMOVE ONLY THE WORST OF THE WET SPOTS from the bedding throughout the entire stable, just pick out the manure which is very easy because the finer bedding material will fall through the tines of your Aquamax fork. After you pick out the manure, mix the left over wet bedding with the dry throughout the entire stable. This allows the odour to be locked into the bedding which greatly reduces ammonia odor in your stables and keeps the bedding slightly damp allowing new granules to expand.

After the first week you start adding just one third of Aquamax to everything taken out, on average one bag per week to each stable is used, after you get used to this new way of life you may never want to return to the mess of shavings again.

NO INSIDE STORAGE NECESSARY

Aquamax horse bedding is conveniently shipped on standard 40 inch by 48 inch pallets. The pallets are shrink wrapped and over bagged with a plastic bag that covers the entire pallet and then shrink wrapped again. Ideal for outside storage if necessary, however we do recommend that you store them under a tarpaulin just in case.

Our Opinion and Thoughts - We use Aquamax bedding and found that once you get used to it, in comparison, shavings seem like hard work. Why? well it's harder to get the poo out of shavings, you have to remove loads more bedding compared to Aquamax and our manure heap is nearly half the size it used to be.

We use it in conjunction with rubber matting and have found overall its cheaper than shavings. Storage is simple, the bags are easy to handle and we only take 15 minutes to muck out our dirtiest horse!
